Unidentified photographer of the Citroën Expedition
The Citroën Expedition was an incredible 20,000km trek across the continent of Africa (during a time when no roads existed) in vehicles designed and manufactured by André Citroën (founder of the car company with his name). Greeted by both astonishment (as cars where as yet unknown) and a generous hospitality, this image, taken by one of the amateur photographers who participated in this journey, shows an entire village gathered to display their riches to the foreign travelers.
