Te frst name of the photographer of this image has been lost, but it is known that Ollivier worked for the French Imperial Navy in Toulon for more than ffteen years and was one of the frst photographers to create a record of the Naval ships and ports of the region. Tis image of two Man-of-War anchored in the Mediterranean port of Toulon in the south of France provides a sense of the expanse of the Toulon harbor which is still the largest natural harbor in the Mediterranean.
