Unidentified River, Circa 1910
Unknown photographer

The history of Cambridge University Crew dates back to 1829 when Cambridge University first challenged Oxford to a race of eights (a rowing boat designed for eight rowers and steered by a cox) on the Thames River in London. It is currently unknown if this wonderfully composed circa 1910 photograph of the Cambridge Crew was taken during a practice run or while racing, but what is known is that everything Cambridge Crew does (and has done) is focused in winning what has become a yearly event known world-wide as simply “The Boat Race.”
