Taken from the hills just above Hakone Village (which offers one of the best vantage points of Mt Fuji) this image shows the last rays of the setting sun alighting the mountain that is one of the most well known symbols of Japan. Attributed to Kusakabe Kimbei, this photograph was exquisitely painted by hand as practical color film would not be available for another 25 years after this image was printed.
