India, circa 1855
by Samuel Bourne
Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), located in the Red Fort in Dehli, was built by Emperor Shah Jahan (the builder of the Taj Mahal) in the mid 17th century and is one of the many spectacular works of Indian architecture. This image, taken by the Englishman Samuel Bourne, provides an exquisite perspective of an arcade, just off the courtyard, of this grand mosque.
