In 1888, Etienne Trouvelot was an assistant astronomer at the Paris Observatory – one of the largest astronomical centers in the world. While working there, he conducted a multitude of diverse electrical experiments. In conjunction with these experiments he created a collection of photographs of electric sparks of which this image is a particularly stunning example.
