from 75€
Morocco, 1889
by George Lévy
Taken by the French photographer George Lévy, this image, of a gate in the city of Tétouan that leads to the coastal town of Martil, provides a glimpse into 19th century Moroccan life. A woman leaves the city, covered from head to toe in her Djellaba (a traditional loose fitting Moroccan robe) while men from the town escape the mid-day sun by resting in the shade of a classic Moorish arch.
