Child on African Buffalo
from 75€
Egypt, 1876
by Otto Schoefft
A domesticated animal used for plowing fields, the African Buffalo also has a long history in Egyptian mythology as Apis, the bull-deity worshiped in the Memphis religion. Taken by the Austrian photographer Otto Schoefft, this image is arresting for it’s simple beauty; the child sits comfortably atop the Buffalo while the animal calmly rests in place.
