Located in the State of Arizona, Canyon De Chelly was (and still is) one of the most sacred places for the Navaho Indians. Tis image, taken by the iconic American photographer Edward Curtis, is considered to be one of his most important and powerful, striving to present the insignifcance of man relative to nature by showing the Navaho riders against a backdrop of the 300-meter-high clif formations of the Canyon.
