Biography

Born in Ain where he grew up in the campaign, Bastien Defives followed engineering studies and practiced hard the theater.

He has been to Brazil in three years studying Performing Arts at Salvador and in the same time working on video and photography which he especially focuses on since few years.

Bastien Defives is interested in the relationship between human and natural elements, their interactions with nature in the development, adaptation or destruction.

Bastien Defives takes time to get immersed in the environment to understand and make a photographic report from it. He often uses a Holga camera which gives his images a natural and spontanous atmosphere.

In 2002, he joined the Transit and collaborated with regional and national press (Le Monde 2, Lire, La Croix, Marie-Claire, Photo, Ulysse…).

His work to observe the environment also supports several research organizations.
